The principle of botulinic toxin consists of using its muscular release properties. It works by blocking the neuromuscular conduction in a reversible manner. The doses are more than 1000 times lower than the toxic concentration.
The botulinic toxin, under the name of "BOTOX" received, in USA, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorization in 2002 for its use to treat the wrinckles in between the two eyebrows.
In february 2003, for the first time, the french administration, in charge of medicine controls, gave an official licence (AMM) for aesthetical purpose to the botulinic toxin.
In practice, the more usual indications for botulinic toxin aesthetical injections are: the wrinckles between the two eyebrows, the frontal lines, the crow-feet wrinckles, puckered lips sun and the bitterness of the commissure fold.
Recently its indication has been extended to the neck in its central  and side parts but in small quantities. It allows the raising of the eyebrows arcade (brow lift). Finally it can improve the hypersweating of the hands and the underarms (injections in the underarms).
No prior test is required and its duration of action is about 5 months.
Having botox injection should be considered a medical procedure, not a cosmetic treatment.
The main goal we want to reach, is to  decrease muscular action and to obtain serenity and calming sensation to stressed and tensed faces.
