The principle of liposuction (as presented in 1977 by Yves-Gérard ILLOUZ) is to remove fat through very small skin incisions, with atraumatic and blunt-tipped cannulas. These cannulas are attached to a closed negative pressure system, which permits safe and sterile aspiration of excessive fat cells.
Liposuction is indicated for localized areas of protruding fat because they don’t go away with strict diet; it can definitively remove them.
Inversely, liposuction is
not a method for losing or controlling weight.  Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity.
A careful clinical examination will define the type of intervention the most appropriate to your case. Is it really an excess of localized fat or it is false excess?
The consultation is very important because it allows the surgeon to clarify what are the exact wishes of the patient.

Practically, liposuction can be applied to numerous bodies and face areas: hips, thighs, abdomen, knees, calves, ankles? Upper arms double chin, neck…
The use of thin cannulas allowed the surgeon to be more superficial and reduce by the same time complications (bruising, waves..)
Final results has been much better especially in delicate areas (inner face of legs, arms,..).
Meanwhile, it must be kept in mind that liposuction, however common a procedure it has become, remains a genuine surgical intervention, that ought to be performed by a skilled and qualified Plastic Surgeon, specially trained for this technique, in a truly surgical environment.
